The refuge Capanna Piz Fassa is located along Alta Via Alpina No. 2, a climbing – hiking route that winds through the Alps to the heart of the Dolomites , UNESCO World Heritage Site connecting the German city of Munich to Venice and this is the highest altitude point.

The refuge is located on the summit of Piz Boè, the highest peak of Sella Group, one of the most spectacular panoramic points of the Dolomites.
The perspective on sunny days is full on the main Dolomitic groups: from Marmolada to Pale di San Martino, towards Sassolungo to the Tofane. Antelao, Marmolada, Pelmo, Sasso della Croce, Civetta, Conturines, Lavarela, Sorapis and Rosengarten.
An easy 3000m
An easy 3.000 mt. high refuge to be reached always safely with compliance of altitude and weather forecast!
The Piz Boè is considered the easiest “3.000” of the Dolomites. This means that everyone can have a chance to climb the normal route, including children and elderly. All the most difficult steps have been equipped in order to make your climb easy and minimize the risk of injuries.
For those who want to try the challenge of the “Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta” it is recommended, unless you already are an experienced mountaineer, to ask a mountain guide for support.
Trails
From Pass Pordoi you reach the Forcella Pordoi saddle. This can be achieved by cable-car or on foot following path nr. 627 (easy hike, about one an half hour). In order to reach the peak please take path nr. 638 (of medium difficulty) which in about an hour takes you to our refuge.
From Campolongo, walk first to the refuge Vallon (2536 m), then following the path 638 (easy) or 672 (hard in the last section due to an exposed ridge), which takes you to the top in about two hours.
Via ferrata
From the Pass Pordoi you can reach us by climbing “Via ferrata Cesare Piazzetta”, one of the most intense and challenging assisted climbing routes of the entire Dolomites. The start of the equipped vertical route is easily reacheable following the path that starts from “Ossario Pordoi” (a memory monument of the Second World War victims). After nearly 500 meters of vertical climb (on average covered in 2 – 3 hours) the route ends on the last stretch of the path no. 638, which leads to our hut.
From the Kostner Hut, ascend the equipped trail no. 672 Cresta Strenta (Lichtenfelserweg).
